ABOUT
MELISSA HILL
Hi there, I’m Mel. I’ve spent many a year passionately working at making people look good through design.
But that’s not all there is to it – good looks without substance are... well, a bit shallow.
I get excited by beautiful design, but a design is not beautiful if it isn't fit for purpose. Design that communicates the client's intended message perfectly, design that enhances the experience of the end product: that is beautiful design.
Through both agency and in-house corporate environments, I have extensive experience delivering highly considered branding, print, and publication design for clients across government, finance, hospitality, property development, education, and entertainment.
I love working on brand and visual identity – really focusing on the essence of what a brand is all about and shaping an identity that encapsulates that in a neat package. Bouncing ideas around a room with other people can be the most fun part of this process, because something unexpected always comes out of it.
I combine my conceptual creative skills with a strong background in design production, so I can really get the job done – taking a project from concept to rollout.
If you’re interested in working together, drop me an email, or follow me on socials to stay in touch.

Concept 2
Concept 2 was imagined to be a history of the Royal Botanic Gardens, its role in the culture of Melbourne, and its importance as a knowledge centre. It would describe some of the most significant specimens in the collection, highlighting the importance of what we are striving to save. This book was intended to feel significant, important... the historical style of the illustrations and the elegance of the design aesthetic, and the high level of production all emphasised the message that we are striving to conserve something of national importance.
